Definitive School of Decortive Art ~ Information & Registration
Definitive developed a curriculum holding tenaciously to a Three P's Maxim: Professional finishes using Production methods for Profitability. If a technique or concept can not comply with the Three P's Maxim it will not be found in the education program of the school. What will be found is a well devised lesson plan leading to individual success in the areas of decorative art most in demand.
Definitive employs systematic compilation and inter-correlation of concepts and techniques as the foundation for all classes. In a wall class the instructor may suggest that the macro wall technique being taught may be used with adjustment as a micro furniture technique. Many teachers are mere demonstrators. Step by step procedures are printed leading to a single finish. A quality instructor will teach in addition to the step-by-step instructions the reason behind the process and suggest variations resulting in a confluence of finishes rather than just one. In the “Opening the mind to possibilities” [Werner Erhart]
Definitive recognizes the abundance of quality decorative art mediums being created by many reputable and quality control conscious manufactures. We in class study the characteristics of these many and various mediums, the tools and the methods of manipulating the mediums in application. Our students are not locked into a single brand of product and therefore deprived the knowledge of the many products available from various manufactures. Definitive believes exposure to multiple brands provides students with a genuine education and the knowledge to support freedom of choice in products selection.
